Tina Kimpo, BA
Research Specialist, Kaiser Permanente Colorado, Institute for Health Research
New to the IHR, since January 2017, but not new to Kaiser Permanente. Tina has worked for KP since 2009 in roles varying from Customer Service, Medicare Specialist, Complex Case Resolution, and Member Appeals. She earned her undergraduate degree in Communications from the University of Denver, with a minor in Leadership. She was selected to participate in DU’s Inaugural Community Based Research program where she co-authored a study for Colorado Coalition for the Homeless. The year-long effort produced an academic report, Vulnerable Voices: Acknowledging the Critical Basic Needs of Colorado’s Homeless and the Impact of the Aid to the Needy and Disabled (AND) Program, which successfully defended the AND benefits of Colorado’s most disadvantaged population. Her work earned her Summa Cum Laude status and inspired a love of research.
To love. To be loved. To never forget your own insignificance. To never get used to the unspeakable violence and the vulgar disparity of life around you. To seek joy in the saddest places. To pursue beauty to its lair. To never simplify what is complicated or complicate what is simple. To respect strength, never power. Above all, to watch. To try and understand. To never look away. And never, never to forget.
